Meet Jo Ann
I chose the name ReadySetCoaching very purposefully. I want to convey to my Clients that my coaching style is full of energy, action and passion. I am an active and engaged listener. I understand not only what my Clients say, but what they don't say. I challenge my Clients and help them get to their truths. My coaching style is participatory and my coaching sessions are productive, dynamic and fun. After spending 10 years in corporate America in the field of Human Resources, I decided to return to school and get my Master's in Counseling Psychology. I then became a therapist. After a short time, I realized being a traditional therapist was just not me. I needed to be more active. I decided to look for a position that would allow me to continue to coach and counsel but also allow me to be more involved. I accepted a position of college counselor at a local college. After several years, I decided to take the sum total of my experiences and open a Human Resource Consulting firm. My practice concentrated on executive coaching, team building, leadership development and career development. Though able to see the positive results of my efforts, I wanted to be even more active in the process and I wanted to see more rapid change. With this in mind and a Masters of Counseling Psychology and 30 years of working with people, I decided to become a Life Coach.
I work with clients who are committed to the coaching process. Clients who will follow through with action plans, assignments and homework. I demand a lot from my Clients, they must be willing to take risks and challenge themselves. They must be willing to accept open and honest feedback. The necessary skills of a successful Coach are my greatest strengths. My intuition, energy, creative approach to problem solving, and my ease with people and genuine caring make me a natural!
I am an avid reader and author. I wrote a book about stepmothers published by Carol Publishing (Birch Lane Press), have been quoted in American Woman, Philadelphia Magazine and numerous national publications. Currently, I am working on my second book, a humorous self-help guide to helping teenagers transition into college and young adults transition into life after college. I have raised a husband and four children. I play lots of tennis and own a rescue mutt named Scout!
"The greatest thing in the world is
not so much where we stand, as
in what direction we are moving."
TESTIMONIALS
"I highly recommend Jo Ann as a Life Coach to anyone interested in improving themselves. I never felt that anything was wrong with me, I just went through this period where I felt like I was sort of stuck. I wanted to move again and needed a gentle nudge, well, okay I needed a shove. Jo Ann, with her insightfulness, honesty, skill and energy helped me, or maybe reminded me how to push myself! I can't say that life coaching changed me, I actually didn't want to change. Life coaching made me a better me."-(E.M., New Jersey)
"My son was like the Blob. He graduated college, didn't have a job and laid around all day. We argued constantly. I realized I couldn't be the one to help him, he wouldn't listen to me. A friend referred me to Jo Ann. She met with my son and within a short time, he had a resume, an idea of the kind of position he wanted, and he learned how to look for a job. Jo Ann also suggested productive ways he could fill his day while looking for the job."
